1922 Martin 00 Mandolin

1922 Martin 00 Mandolin

This is one of the very last of the beautiful Martin bowl-back mandolins, and is perfect in its simplicity. With its sixteen genuine mahogany ribs, spruce top with celluloid pickguard inlaid into it, and ebony fingerboard, nut, and bridge, with Brazilian rosewood faceplate on the peghead, it has LOUD, CLEAR tones that are quite unusual for an instrument of this style. There are no cracks or structural flaws of any kind anywhere; the condition is quite remarkable. The pickguard has shrunk a bit, as early celluloid  did, and there are a few notes that need attention with nut notches and a bit of fret leveling. The action is very pleasingly low, as per original. The tuners are original too; the case is not quite usable other than for storage. Offered as is at the bargain price for any pre-war Martin instrument of only $695
