1930s Reso No-Back

1930s Reso No-Back

Betcha never saw ons of these before; I know I sure haven’t, other than the time this one came in, about twenty-five years ago and got put away and forgotten……….. until now. The reason it has no back is beyond me; probably some well-inrtentioned though misdirected budding luthier’s attempt at restoration, stopped cold in its tracks for reasons unknown. So here’s your big chance. The slightly-larger-that-the-body wood resonator design has been seen before, notably in a very few guitars that Martin made for the Paramount banjo company in the 1930s (we had one of those once; it ended up in the Roy Acuff museum), but never in quite this form. As you can see, there’s a guitar-shaped soundhole in the internal spruce resonator, along with some unique, double-arched top braces. The neck is laminated for strength, of course. There is no maker’s name in or on it; perhaps it was on the back, and anyone out there who recognizes it is welcome to write in with information, for which we’ll be grateful. Meanwhile, this unique instrument can be your very own, as is, for only $695 w/ssc
