1972 Gibson Les Paul Custom

1972 Gibson Les Paul Custom

Viva Les Paul! Made forty-nine dang years ago for this guitar. Who’d a thunk it? Les played every Monday night at Iridium, a club here in NYC, for what seemed like forever and he loved it as much as we loved seeing him in that intimate setting. (There was another club Les payed at weekly before Iridium, on 1st or 2nd Ave, and I’ll be danged if I can remember the name of it. Google was no help; any of you?). So here we have one of those very iconic Gibsons, in the finish we all love best, Gibson’s Heritage Cherry Sunburst, and it’s a true winner. Still has all its original stuff too: Gibson’s own Humbuckers, real nice small-medium frets, American made (!) Grover Rotomatic tuners, all-gold hardware, ebony fingerboard with real mother-of-pearl block inlays, and that oh so cool little truss rod cover says Les Paul CUSTOM right on it. Original black plastic jack plate replaced; those things always broke and the original is in the case. Original Gibson hard shell case still in fab shape and the guitar is ready to go, all gone over by us right here. Oh, and it’s still even got its original Gibson hang-tag style owner’s manual with serial numbered warranty card, all filled out by the original owner but looks like he forgot to mail it in, forty-nine years ago.
