2007 Collings OM1 A SS

2007 Collings OM1 A SS

Back in the day I special ordered, from Collings, a few instruments built to the spec of what had always been one of my very favorite guitars of all time, the Martin 000-18 specifically from the mid-to-late 1930s. These differed from Martin 000-18s of other periods (approximate, as Martin never changed features on a Jan.1-Dec.31 basis) in that for a short time they had a combination of a 1-3/4” nut width, ebony fingerboard and bridge, the shorter (for that era) 24.9" scale length, and an Adirondack spruce top, which is what they used every day in the late ‘30s. The Adirondack top on this guitar has beautifully-graded grain, set out and braced as only the people at Collings can do. Collings also got that mid-late 1930s Martin neck shape perfectly, something that no one, not even Martin, gets quite right today. All of this adds up to a very special kind of sound, one that I dearly love, and Bill Collings was kind enough to accommodate me to make these very special guitars that were outside the norm for him. Bill was a very special person, a very dear friend, and we all miss him, a lot. Overall, we had maybe a half-dozen, at most, of these guitars made. One of them came back to me some years ago as a gift from its owner, and I kept it and treasure it. This Collings is in near-mint condition, ultra-clean with no issues of any kind and almost no fret wear. And the best, best Waverly tuning machines of course. I am absolutely thrilled to have it here, as I’m sure you will be to own it and play it. This terrific Collings OM-1A SS at $4495 w/ohsc
