1949 Gibson ES-150
Now here is where the rubber really hits the road. This rare, fabulous 1949 Gibson ES-150 is about as cool as it can possibly get. Looks kinda like those zillions of ES-125s we see all over the place but it surely is not. What it is, is, that it’s got the full-size 17”-wide body and there ain’t no foolin’ about that. Big guitar, BIG sound, and it’s got all its original stuff too. Best is that oh-so-hot original Gibson P-90 pickup, the one that wrote the book. Also still has its original 1940s Kluson tuners, original tailpiece, and it even still has its original pickguard, almost unheard of. Plays like the dream that it is and while there are some fingernail grooves in the fingerboard the frets are just fine; I’d say that they’re all original but if some have been replaced, someone did one hell of a great job, look and play totally perfectly. Faint evidence of small repair in the endpin area, checked out by us and totally solid. It’s ready to go with all you jazzbos and jump-blues dudes and dudettes out there, set up with .012 flatwounds, bebop redux. But wait! There’s more!!! It comes with a custom-made genuine Calton hard shell road case, the best best best there is, anywhere, period. Calton cases can cost upwards of $1000 these days but it's included here with the package. All this for only $2995 w/Calton.
