1950 Martin 000-21

1950 Martin 000-21

Martin 000-21, my favorite!  My own personal acoustic guitar is a 1952 Martin 000-21 that came into the store for sale in 1972 (I can hardly believe it's been fifty years) and I just couldn’t let it go, just had to keep it, it was that great, and I still have it. This one that just came in is just like it, from 1950 and a real heart-throb, and it too has had only one owner. It came to me from a woman who got it as a present for her 12th birthday and has kept it ever since, having passed it around within her immediate family over the years and then back to her. In 1982 (forty years ago, holy cow!) it was taken back to Martin for some action work. Martin has a record of its having been there though not what was done, but I can say with 100% assurance exactly what they did. Repair work can be like handwriting, very identifiable, and I am extremely familiar with Martin's work. They reset the neck, perfectly of course, and they also refretted it beautifully and it appears that it has not been played much since, if at all. They replaced the nut and saddle at the same time, added one coat of lacquer overall, and reglued the bridge. That's it. No other repairs, never needed any, not a single crack or anything like it anywhere. They also sold her a new molded Martin hard shell case, D-size with extra pads; i guess they were out of 000 cases that day. The 000-21 model is exarlemy rare, very few ever made, and I am thrilled to have it here. I promised her that I would find a respectful, caring home for the Martin guitar she’s treasured for seventy-two years and I trust that you will appreciate it as she did, and as I do. $11,995 w/hsc
