1950s Oahu Lap Steel

1950s Oahu Lap Steel

Great 50s lap steel, and it SOUNDS great. Oahu was a music publishing company, not an instrument manufacturer, but they had a lot of stuff made for them with their name on it to have an additional income-providing part of their business to go along with the sale of sheet music. Lap steels, ukuleles, more, but the lap steels are the most ubiquitous and by far the coolest. I don’t know exactly who made this one but I've seen this wild gold floral decal stuff before on Oahus and I love it. I’m guessing at 1950s BTW due to its standard Waverly tuning machines, seen in so many places in that era though I suppose it might be earlier. Hotter ’n a two-dollar pistol, this Oahu will take you from Leon McAuliffe to Glenn Branca (extra points if you know who/what both of them were/did with no Google cheating) and anywhere in between you choose to go. Has a mysterious little slide switch on its back. no idea what for other than it seems to cut volume in half when you use it. Beats me. All the controls work like a charm. Comes with its original very cool (and rare) hard shell case. $795 w/ohsc
