1977 Martin 00-28C

Ah, the Martin Company. For over 175 years they’ve been making guitars that set the world’s standards at their home in Nazareth, PA, still run by the Martin family. While they did change over in the 1930s from gut-string-only models, mostly switching to their world-copied steel-string designs, they did continue to make a very few models built for nylon strings, which had long since replaced gut. By the 1970s there was only one nylon-string model remaining in their lineup, the 00-28C, and we’ve got an absolute beauty of an example here. It is based on very traditional 19th-century Martin designs with the unique Martin 12-fret body shape, traditional hand-scalloped fan bracing, and that absolutely classic Martin look. The back and sides are of beautiful straight-grained East Indian Rosewood; the top is of finely-grained Sitka spruce; the fingerboard and bridge are top-quality black ebony. The original Waverly tuning machines are still in place, as are the original Martin nut and saddle. The neck contour is extremely comfortable and the action is perfect, plays as easily as one could want. Overall condition is excellent-plus with absolutely no issues, no repairs ever needed nor done, and the finish is immaculately clean. Original Martin hard shell case is included. $1995 w/ohsc
