1979 Guild F-40 Blonde

1979 Guild F-40 Blonde

There is nothing else in the world quite like a Guild F-40 Bld from the 1970s and they are just terrific, when you can find a really nice un-messed-with one. Of the “jumbo” configuration but not quite so large, and with maple back and sides with the back being arched and with Guild’s own bracing pattern, they have a unique kind of tone with wonderful volume that can be found nowhere else. Maple for the body produces a clear, clean midrange with matching basses and trebles that make microphones smile at the ease of reproduction. Pretty darn clean and smooth to the ear, too. This particular Guild F-40 Bld has a decal from my store on the back of the peghead, indicating that we sold it here many years ago. Whether as a brand-new guitar or as used I couldn’t say, as Guild was the very first line of new guitars I got when I opened my store in 1969. Either way, it's one heck of a great instrument. Three-piece maple neck with mahogany center lamination, rosewood fingerboard and bridge (could be Brazilian, so good it's hard to tell), and Guild tuning machines made by Schaller of Germany, I guarantee. No cracks anywhere, no repairs ever needed nor done, no nonsense. Just lotsa love. Nicely set up with fresh, proper .012-.053 strings and just gone over by us right here. A bit of fret wear in the first position, plays just fine. It has been in the hands of the person who bought it from us for many, many years, now ready for the next stage of its career, with you. Still has its original hard shell case. $1795 w/ohsc
