Those of you who are into the master-builder archtop guitar world know Bob Benedetto quite well. He has been building top-quality jazz guitars since 1968 and is known the world over. This Limelight Special, made by Bob in the 1990s, is absolutely terrific. With its beautifully figured maple back, sides, and neck and tightly-grained carved spruce top, it is a prime example of Benedetto’s work. The fingerboard, bridge and tailpiece are, of course, of the finest ebony. The peghead overlay has Benedetto inlaid in mother-of-pearl; its centerpiece is an abalone floral pattern with pearl leaves, and the truss rod cover is of solid mother-of-pearl with the original owner's initials engraved on it. The back of the peghead has very unusual high-relief carving; I’ve never seen anything quite like it, and it is fabulous. The solid ebony tailpiece has an abalone flower with inlaid pearl leaves matching the peghead overlay; American-made gold-plated Grover Imperial tuners complete the picture. The pickguard is also of solid ebony, triple-bound, and it has the hippest of pickups, an original, American-made gold-plated DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1100, the kind with six adjustable pole-piece screws that everyone wants and never can find, right there. There are no cracks or evidence of any repairs anywhere. There is a slight back-bow to the neck, which will need to be taken care of by your trusted local luthier. Returns

All purchases made from this website - as well as any made via phone orders - are granted a 24-hour approval period. If you decide not to keep the merchandise you may ship it back to us in the original carton with all accompanying packaging and paperwork. The customer is responsible for all shipping costs. When we receive the item back in its original condition, we will refund the entire amount of the purchase less original shipping cost outbound.
