made hammered dulcimers I've ever seen. This very modest company was started and is still owned and run by Ray and Sue Mooers, who are two of the loveliest people I've ever met in the musical instrument-making business and I am proud today I know them. Their hammered dulcimers are revered and played all over the world and are known not only for their pure tone but for their beauty and cleanliness of line and perfect construction. This professional-grade D-25B Model, with its Honduran mahogany top and back and walnut and maple frame, was bought by a woman in
1988 as a gift for her mother in North Carolina but rarely if ever played and is in immaculate condition. It comes with all the accessories and accouterments: stand, hammers, tuning wrench, complete carrying bag, instruction sheets, a most wonderful book from 1979 on learning how to play, and a somewhat, er, dated but terrific Seiko chromatic electronic tuner, now probably considered a relic, and it works! If you’ve ever had the least hankering to play the hammered dulcimer, this is your time. $695 w/bag
