When Gibson took over Epiphone in the late 1950s they decided to use the name mostly to offer less expensive versions of Gibson guitars using all-Gibson components (bodies, necks, parts) but with a different peghead shape and the Epiphone logo. This Epi Olympic is a great looker and a prime player, having just been thoroughly gone over by us here in our own shop: truss rod adjusted, frets beautifully dressed, electronics nicely cleaned, intonation, the works, And it still has all its original parts. The finish has great checking and patina, thanks in part to being sorta thick and it's all factory, I guar-on-tee. Bought ten years ago or so in Japan by an American on a business trip; saw it, coudn't resist, brought it home with him. Still has its large and lustrous Japanese price tag. Comes with a top-grade, recent hard shell case. $1695 w/hsc
