Ferrington Gibson Super 400CES 1989

Wow! It doesn’t get much more unique and top-end than this. It was made using genuine Gibson components; top, back, sides, neck, tailpiece, and tuners, the whole nine yards, and assembled by Danny Ferrington; many if not most of you know who Danny Ferrington is. He’s the one who designed all those unique guitars in the 1970s-80s-90s both acoustic and hollowbody electric, with the unusual-looking soundholes, and had also made guitars for George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain, Johnny Depp, Johnny Cash, and more. On the underside of the top is written, in ink: “Constructed By Danny Ferrington / From original Gibson Parts / March 1989 Santa Monica California”. I’ve got nearly sixty years of vintage guitar repair and restoration, working in and running guitar factories, and sales of vintage and new guitars in my store here in NYC under my belt and I like to think I know what I see when I see it; these sure do look like Gibson parts to me. This beautiful archtop guitar has the real-deal 1940s-style Gibson peghead logo inlaid in mother-of-pearl, Gibson/Kluson-style tuners, a Super 400 tailpiece, and two of the hottest P-90 pickups I've ever encountered. And to top it off, it’s finished in the best Impossibly Red lacquer I’ve ever seen. Ebony fingerboard of course, beautiful frets in what look like unplayed condition and in fact the entire guitar is gorgeously clean, apparently put away in storage for all these years. And it’s been gone over by us and is ready to go. The hard shell case I’m afraid, not so much, provided to me by the seller for secure shipping purposes only and not usable otherwise.
