Gibson L-50 1937
Gibson L-50 1937
The very affordable and heart-throb pre-war Gibson archtop you’ve been waiting for. This oh-so-lovely 1937 L-50 with full 16”-wide body is the very nicest, cleanest, bestest one of these I’ve seen in all my years here. Never needed a single repair, wonderful action with just the tiniest bit of fret wear and a wee bit of finish wear on the back of the neck. This Gibson was lightly played and lovingly cared for since its own day one. All solid woods everywhere of course with an outstandingly fine-grained solid spruce top. Original tuners too and all that. The pickguard, which is almost always gone in one way or another on these, looks so right but I’ll venture that it mighta come from another Gibson; a tiny mark from a slightly earlier Gibson bracket will show if one spends a lot of time scrutinizing. The real deal here is that in addition to its BIG, CLEAR, pre-war Gibson solid-archtop sound, a fabulous straight-ahead even feel and terrific original condition, it's a dang all night long bargain. It’s got “the look” too. You’ll love it. Deal of the year at only $2195 w/hsc
