Martin D-18 1972

In the early 1970s we were getting in about five or six new Martins for our store every week and I can't begin to tell you how often I would open a carton, take one out and play it, and say to myself “How great is this guitar, and how great is it going to be twenty-five years from now?” Well here we are, fifty hears later, and every time I have the opportunity to get a really nice early '70s Martin I still get excited. This one is a prime example. It came to me from the person who bought it new, had it all these years, and had the Martin people go over it thoroughly in 2019. At that time they replaced the pickguard (a very common need on many Martins of the period), reset the neck for proper acton, installed all new frets, put in a new bone nut and compensated saddle, and gave the the entire guitar a coat of lacquer to help with decades of minor playing wear. They also went over the owner's installation of a modern K&K pickup, one of our favorites, and left the added strap button at the heel as it was. All now set up with proper .012-.053 strings, this 1972 Martin D-18 is ready to GO, and go it does.
