Woo hoo!!!  This Epiphone FT-79N Texan, made all the way by Gibson at their traditional factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is hotter ’n a two-dollar pistol. Throughout the 1960s, after Gibson had taken over the Epiphone company, they used the Epiphone name to make slightly different versions of Gibson guitars using all Gibson components, and making the necks with unique Epiphone-shaped pegheads. So what we have here is essentially a late-1960s Gibson J-50, except: The scale length is 25.5”, a full 1/2” longer than on Gibson J-50s of the day, giving it volume and punch like no other Gibson has. Hoo-hah! The first time I picked it up and played it after it had been throughly gone over in our shop I nearly fell off my chair. Takes a standard .012-.053 string set and that's what it wants to have. Many Gibsons of that era had ridiculous molded plastic bridges, as did this one, which we replaced with a never-used solid rosewood one that I had gotten from Gibson back in the 1980s-or-so for just such circumstances, and we were able to retain the original adjustable white ceramic saddle which is rare, revered, and voraciously sought after by many. The neck is slightly narrower than what one usually encounters in a Gibson, typical of literally everything they made in the late-1960s, real comfy, with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. No cracks anywhere, 100% solid and ready to transport you back to the days of well, you know. Comes with a largish heavy-duty hard-shell case of the period not original to the guitar, kinda big and tatty-looking but quite serviceable and hey, you don't play the case.Yours for a lifetime for only $4995 w/hsc
