Martin 0-28VS 2014

Martin stopped making their Concert-size “0” models with rosewood back and sides sometime in the 1940s, never seen another other than two made for me in 1967, and this 0-28VS re-issue was a welcome, but brief, return a few years ago. It’s a beautiful guitar, with the same 1-7/8” nut width, 12-fret neck with slotted peghead, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and the same herringbone top inlay and backstripe as on all their pre-war style-28 guitars. Surprisingly, they even went for the best-anywhere genuine Waverly tuning machines here, something I’ve never seen from them other than by special request from their Custom Shop. Martins with 12-fret necks have slightly longer bodies than their 14-fret models; this is their original design from the 19th-century, with warm trebles and balanced tone like no other. Condition of this guitar is pristine, not a scratch or a mark on it, and there is literally no fret wear. It was obviously bought and put away, just like that. The action is low and smooth, adjusted by us right here in our own shop for wonderful ease of playing. Finding any available example at all of this rare model is difficult enough; one in this condition near impossible.
